Students will learn about the duties, responsibilities and
work environment of an EKG technician; vital signs; anatomy and physiology of
the human heart; EKG components and procedure; and common medical conditions.
Students will master the following skill sets: preparing the patient, applying
and removing leads, performing live EKGs, entering patient data, and
documenting completion. Upon completion of the program, students will be
eligible to sit for the MedCA certification exam.
This course is designed to introduce students to electrocardiographs (EKG's) and cardiac anatomy and physiology. Topics to be covered include basic cardiac anatomy and physiology, patient preparation, patient confidentiality, identification of irregularities of the heart and distinguishing more complex arrhythmia's, cardiac modalities and pharmacology, with a slight emphasis on complex heart rhythms, electrical disturbances, disorders and pacemakers. Course completion will enable student to sit for Medca national certification exam.
The cost for this program is$880.00 with a $150 deposit due at registration.
There is bi-weekly payment plans available for cash paying students.
